DESCRIPTION:Annual Meeting at 6:30 followed at 7:00 by \nErnest Harold Baynes:  NH’s Own Dr. Doolittle. \nWith archival photos from the Plainfield Historical Society\, Mary Kronenwetter will discuss the work of this self-taught naturalist who was conservator at Corbin Park and helped rescue the American Bison from extinction. \nErnest Harold Baynes is fondly remembered in New Hampshire as our own Doctor Dolittle. To the rest of the nation\, he is known as an important early 20th century wildlife conservationist. A self-taught naturalist\, he wrote and lectured extensively on animal behavior\, bird and bison restoration\, the role of animals in WWI\, and vivisection. Baynes shared his New Hampshire home with tame bear\, fox\, boar\, bison\, and wolf. He fought to end the trade in bird feathers for fashion and established one of the first bird sanctuaries in America. While serving as conservator to the Corbin Park bison herd\, he convinced President Theodore Roosevelt to support the preserving of the American bison from extinction through the founding of the American Bison Society. Baynes’ work inspires us to consider how we intervene to help wildlife recover from the harms inflicted on them by humans. This illustrated lecture includes archival Baynes photographs from the Plainfield Historical Society collection. \nSponsored by NH Humanities

Bring your chairs\, blankets\, sleeping bags\, and favorite snacks as we gather under the stars for a fun\, family-friendly movie experience. \nRain or shine\, the show goes on! In case of rain\, we’ll move indoors to The Livery (Riverside Level)—just don’t forget to bring a blanket or low chairs for comfy seating on the floor. \nThis event is free and open to all.\nA big thank you to everyone who supports Project Sunapee—we can’t wait to see you there! \nProject Sunapee

DESCRIPTION:A four-piece blues band specializing in the driving boogie blues popularized by Johnny Winter\, George Thorogood and the J. Geils Band; a sound that owes equal debts to Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker. Dennis Martin took up the harmonica at age 10; over a 30-year professional career\, he’s performed all over the world\, including the former Soviet Union\, and opened for everyone from B.B. King to Steppenwolf.
