What began as a simple idea from Sunapee Middle High School students and teachers—wanting to give back—has grown into one of our community’s favorite annual gatherings. \nEach year\, a local artist crafts dozens of beautiful\, one-of-a-kind pottery bowls. Then\, the community comes together at The Livery to share a homemade meal and dessert served right in those handcrafted bowls. Laughter\, conversation\, and the smell of good food fill the room—there’s something truly special about it. \nAnd the best part? You get to take your bowl home as a keepsake—a reminder of the good we can do when we gather around the table together. \nEmpty Bowl isn’t just a dinner; it’s a celebration of creativity\, kindness\, and community spirit—all wrapped up in one warm bowl. \nWhat is an Empty Bowl Dinner?\nEmpty Bowls is a grassroots movement by artists and crafts people in cities and towns around the world to raise money for food related charities to care for and feed the hungry in their communities. \nCost: $20/per person includes a full meal\, and a handmade artisan bowl. \nDinner reservations are required and must be made no later than November 4th. \nBuy Tickets Here \nAll proceeds from this event go to Sunapee’s Food Pantry. Kevin’s informal talk will touch on the history\, technique\, stylistic development\, and aesthetics of stone walls\, as covered in his book The Granite Kiss. He will explain how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls\, the ways in which stone walls and other dry stone structures were built\, how their styles emerged and changed over time\, and the significance to the famous New England landscape all while building his own mini wall in front of attendees.\n\n\n\nOther topics may include: differences in the approach between historical and contemporary wall-builders; restoration tips and techniques; and information about the design\, acquisition of materials\, preservation\, and analysis of stone walls.\n\n\n\nThere will be a question-and-answer session\, during which listeners are encouraged to bring up specific problems or projects with their own properties.
