The Bend at Sugar River

The Bend at Sugar River – a fine food deli, was conceived by two full time Sunapee residents – Annie and Chris – partners in business, life and love. A lovely spot along the Sugar River in the Lower Village in the town of Sunapee seemed just right for a fun and vital enterprise. Our deli joins a handful of other businesses in Sunapee welcoming both residents and tourists throughout the year.

The Sunapee community has given so much to Annie and Chris and their families over many years and they wish to give back to support the health and vitality of the community with three workforce housing units and an attractive, family friendly deli. The deli is situated on a bend of the historic Sugar River, which supported nine manufacturing mills in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The couple hopes to contribute to and showcase the assets, the history and vitality of the Lower Village.

The deli seeks to honor the beauty and charm of the river as it winds its way along Main Street. By leaving the riverbank intact and allowing the natural path and contours of the Sugar River to remain and by preserving the habitat for the local fauna (e.g., retaining decaying tree trunks for bird nesting), the deli setting is tranquil and inviting.

We believe strongly in investing in our team with living wages, excellent benefits, and nurturing working conditions and hope to retain their talent for many years in providing our customers with a strong sense of community, warmth on a chilly day, delicious food, and a peaceful environment.

While we are new business owners in the Sunapee community, we intend to partner with local businesses and public agencies to support the Sunapee community in whatever ways that we can.
